Report: Manchester United expects another bid from Real Madrid for De Gea

Manchester United is reportedly anticipating another fax from Real Madrid but will resist whatever's offered.

According to ESPN FC's Rob Dawson, United expects Real Madrid to bid for David De Gea, whom Los Blancos are set to make a fresh offer for after Gianluigi Donnarumma signed a new contract at AC Milan. The Spanish club apparently targeted the Italian 'keeper and Chelsea's Thibault Courtois in its search for a shot-stopper to replace Keylor Navas, but the former made the decision to stay at Stadio San Siro while the Blues refused to negotiate over the latter, resulting in La Liga's reigning champion renewing its interest in De Gea.

De Gea is allegedly still interested in moving to Real Madrid at some stage in his career, but United is adamant about its lack of interest in selling.

Dawson's report goes against the words of Marca's Jose Felix Diaz, who wrote in June that Real Madrid will not sign De Gea in the summer transfer window, deciding that Navas and Kiko Casilla will continue to be Zinedine Zidane's first two choices between the posts.

In 2015, a soap opera unfolded on the summer transfer window's deadline that prevented De Gea from moving to the Santiago Bernabeu. United pointed the finger at Real Madrid and vice versa after the required paperwork wasn't filed in time, as both clubs published a 10-point statement, each detailing their version of what went wrong.

Following the debacle, De Gea put pen to paper on a new contract at United, keeping him at Old Trafford until at least 2019. There is an option to extend the deal for a further year.
