The Utah Jazz are reportedly expected to waive big man Boris Diaw before his contract for the 2017-18 season becomes fully guaranteed July 15, a source told ESPN's Tim MacMahon.
In his lone season in Utah, the 35-year-old Frenchman averaged 4.6 points, 2.3 assists, and 2.2 rebounds in 17.6 minutes per game.
Diaw can be waived with just $500,000 of his $7.5 million left on the Jazz's books. The only question now is which team will be the one to officially release him; Utah could theoretically trade Diaw's relatively large, but soon-to-be-released cap hold in order to acquire another asset to aid its post-Gordon Hayward transition period.
