Simone Biles takes home ESPY award for Best Female Athlete

Simone Biles joined elite company Wednesday night, taking home the award for Best Female Athlete at the 25th ESPY Awards.

The 20-year-old gymnast had a time to remember at the 2016 summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, capturing four golds and one bronze medal on her way to becoming the most decorated American gymnast of all time.

Her 19 combined Olympic and World Championship medals surpassed the previous record held my Shannon Miller since 1993.

Biles received the award after being nominated alongside fellow Olympian Katie Ledecky, WNBA star Candace Parker, and tennis legend Serena Williams.
