Cubs earn Best Moment at ESPYS for snapping historic drought

The Chicago Cubs earned some more hardware Wednesday for their epic, drought-snapping performance from last autumn, receiving the 2017 ESPY Award for Best Moment after securing their first World Series title in 108 years with an extra-inning, 8-7 victory over the Cleveland Indians in Game 7.

Bill Murray, the legendary funnyman and Illinois native who joined the Cubs for their clubhouse celebration following their Game 7 victory at Progressive Field, accepted the award on behalf of the club.

After receiving the award from presenter and former "Parks and Recreation" star Nick Offerman, Murray popped a bottle of champagne he retrieved from the mop bucket of a custodian who happened to be on stage and toasted the Cubs legends who weren't able to see the century-plus-long drought end. (Shortly thereafter, the custodian revealed himself to be David Ross, the now-retired catcher who smacked a solo shot off Indians reliever Andrew Miller in the sixth inning of the fateful Game 7.)
