5 people you won't want to miss speak at SEC Media Days
SEC Media Days kick off Monday and the annual festivities are always a good glimpse into the upcoming season for college football fans. With the conference boasting some of the nation's best personalities and top programs, the four days are usually must-see TV.
Here are five individuals you won't want to miss:
Derrius Guice - LSU
The LSU running back heads into the season as the official starter after Leonard Fournette left for the NFL, and he's been making headlines all offseason.
The junior spent his time off squatting 650 pounds, getting a massive tattoo, and placing a wager with fellow running backs Mike Weber and Saquon Barkley.
Guice ran for nearly 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns a season ago as a backup, so it will be scary to see what he can accomplish as a full-time starter and with the spotlight all to himself.
Nick Saban - Alabama
It goes without saying that anything can happen when Saban gets a microphone in his hand.
The Alabama head coach is known for having a short fuse and you never know when an innocent question may set him off. Saban has built a dynasty with the Crimson Tide, yet is always extremely hard on his players when it comes to expectations.
Hopefully Saban adds another rant to his collection next week.
Kevin Sumlin - Texas A&M
It's no secret Sumlin is going into this season on the hot seat, and expect the Aggies head coach to be answering questions about his future Wednesday.
Texas A&M athletic director Scott Woodward made it clear back in May that Sumlin has to win this year and he wants to see improvements with the program.
Sumlin won 11 and nine games in his first two years with the program, but hasn't topped eight wins in a season since. If that doesn't change in 2017, these SEC Media Days may be Sumlin's last.
Nick Chubb/Sony Michel - Georgia
Michel and Chubb are a formidable duo for the Bulldogs, but they are also in competition with each other at the running back position.
Both players are returning for their senior seasons at Georgia and each will want to impress before heading into the NFL draft. Chubb had 224 carries in 2016 compared to Michel's 152, so it remains to be seen if Chubb can continue to hang onto his place at the top of the depth chart.
Perhaps one will make a bold claim Tuesday about who deserves to rule the Bulldogs' backfield.
Hugh Freeze - Ole Miss
Much like Sumlin, Freeze could be taking part in his final SEC Media Day.
The Ole Miss head coach may be in tough to survive potential sanctions from the NCAA after he was charged with a lack of institutional control. So far the Rebels have backed Freeze and the school has imposed a bowl ban for this season, but it remains to be seen if the 47-year-old will be able to keep his job after additional NCAA discipline.
You can bet the majority of questions heading this week will revolve around charges.
