Judge dismisses former staff member's lawsuit against Baylor

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

A judge in Waco dismissed a defamation and breach of contract lawsuit filed against Baylor by former director of football operations Colin Shillinglaw.

Shillinglaw was among the staff members fired in 2016 along with former head coach Art Briles in the fallout from the program's sexual assault scandal.

According to Tommy Witherspoon of the Waco Tribune, the judge also denied his request for arbitration in the case. It's the second suit he's filed against Baylor in the matter, eventually withdrawing the first one in April.

Judge Tonya Parker also ordered him to pay $325,000 in court costs and legal fees.

Shillinglaw's lawyer, Gaines West, said his client will launch an appeal in a Dallas court.
