Roma rules out selling Chelsea target Nainggolan this summer

Roma isn't expecting any more player departures this summer, according to the Italian side's sporting director, Monchi.

Radja Nainggolan, along with defender Antonio Rudiger, appeared to be one of the most likely players to leave this summer, with reports linking the Belgian international with Chelsea, Manchester United and Inter Milan.

However, his chances of a summer transfer are bleak following Monchi's insistence that Roma has seen the last of its best player leave and that the club will now focus on acquisitions in preparation for the 2017-18 campaign.

"Yes (Nainggolan will stay)," Monchi said, according to the team's website as translated by Sky Sports. "I think we've seen the last of the big departures from our club.

"Now it's time to build a team, which will be supplemented with potential purchases in the transfer market."

Nainggolan was linked with a move to Chelsea before United appeared to join the pursuit in May. But now it seems he could be destined for another season at the Stadio Olimpico.

It's unknown whether Monchi's comments include Rudiger, whose agents reportedly arrived in London on Saturday to complete a £34-million transfer to join Chelsea as well.

So far, Mohamed Salah represents Roma's most lucrative departure after the Egyptian winger completed a transfer to Liverpool for a €42-million fee. The club collected another €23 million when Leandro Paredes was sold to Zenit St. Petersburg earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Roma has completed a number of signings thus far, such as right-back Rick Karsdorp, Maxime Gonalons, and Hector Moreno.
