Alphonso Davies' star continues to rise. And rise.

The 16-year-old phenom, who already holds a trio of records at club level - the Vancouver Whitecaps prodigy is the youngest player to score in the CONCACAF Champions League, Canadian Championship, and United Soccer League - added another notch to his belt Friday.

This time at the international level.

The recently minted Canadian citizen scored his first two goals for the senior national team in Canada's Gold Cup opener against French Guiana, and in the process became the youngest player in national team history to find the net.

Davies' first tally on the evening proved to be the winner, as Canada, leading 3-0 after the teenager's composed finish in the 60th minute, proceeded to fall asleep and concede two quick goals.

But Davies ensured there would be no dramatic comeback, sliding home his second strike of the night in the 85th minute to solidify a 4-2 win, and all three points for Octavio Zambrano's side.

With its first Gold Cup victory since 2011, Canada is off and running in Group A, which also includes Costa Rica and Honduras.
