Report: OKC, Andre Roberson agree on 3-year, $30M deal
The Oklahoma City Thunder have reached an agreement to re-sign free-agent forward Andre Roberson, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Roberson will reportedly make $30 million over the next three seasons, and there are no options in the contract. This deal represents a pay cut from the OKC offer Roberson rejected last summer, which was worth $48 million over four seasons.
The Thunder are now $4 million above the luxury tax after also adding Paul George and Patrick Patterson in a busy summer.
The 25-year-old Roberson has spent the entirety of his career with the Thunder, and has made significant strides toward becoming a useful role player. He was named to the All-Defensive Second Team last season while starting 79 games for the Thunder, recognizing his work as a shutdown wing defender.
Roberson's weakness, however, is his inability to make an open jumper. Defenses flat-out ignore him to double other players, yet Roberson cannot make them pay. He's a career 26 percent shooter from beyond the arc, mostly on wide-open looks.
