3 players to watch over the weekend at the Quicken Loans National

Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports

David Lingmerth has been brilliant through 36 holes at the Quicken Loans National, sitting at 10-under par for the tournament. While there are just 22 players in red numbers heading into the weekend, the golf course is playing like a major championship with high scores looming on each hole.

Here are three other players we'll need to keep an eye on this weekend in Washington, D.C.:

Geoff Ogilvy (-8)

Ogilvy hasn't won on Tour since 2014, but has a great chance to end the slump this weekend at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm. The Aussie is tied for first in birdies this week with 12, is third in strokes gained: putting (5.031), sits second in strokes gained: total (11.521), and ranks seventh in putts per GIR (1.625).

Bryson DeChambeau (-2)

DeChambeau hasn't been great this year, but he posted a nice result last week at the Travelers with a T26 finish. The rookie is ranked first this week in strokes gained: off the tee (5.417), is sixth in strokes gained: tee to green (6.861), and is tied for 12th in strokes gained: total (5.521).

Tyrone Van Aswegen (-2)

The South African recovered from an opening-round 72 by shooting the third-lowest score on Friday with a 66. Van Aswegen is ranked third in strokes gained: approach to the green (5.127), has registered 10 birdies this week, and is fourth in putts per GIR (1.619).
