White Sox GM will be 'mildly disappointed' if club doesn't make a few trades

Mired in a four-game losing streak and nine games under .500, the Chicago White Sox are, once again, open for business.

General manager Rick Hahn - who completed two of the biggest offseason deals in franchise-altering moves that saw the club trade Chris Sale and Adam Eaton - said the team expects to be active and would be "mildly disappointed" if they didn't make more than one deal, according to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun Times.

"We're looking to accumulate as many impactful guys that are going to have club control through this next window to win a championship," Hahn said.

"That doesn’t mean we're necessarily limited to guys in A-ball or Double-A. It's certainly guys whom we view as being able to contribute here as we get ourselves to the level that we need to be at. ...

"Or it's not going to happen, if it doesn't happen in the course of the next four or five weeks, we will revisit it in August and again in the offseason," he added.

The White Sox players likely to generate the most interest are Todd Fraizer, Melky Cabrera, slugger Jose Abreu, as well as Avisail Garcia - a right fielder in the midst of a career year.

Additionally, left-hander Jose Quintana and closer David Robertson - two of the most popular names to have been discussed in trade rumors in the past - will be in play.

"We've had a lot of conversations," Hahn said. "A lot of teams are in a feeling-out period right now, and we'll see in the coming weeks or days that clubs become a little more aggressive, and it will open up the floodgates for everybody around the league to start getting some things done."
