Everton isn't done spending just yet, but the Toffees will apparently need to reach a little deeper into their pocket to pry Gylfi Sigurdsson away from Swansea City.

Everton, having already inked Jordan Pickford and Davy Klaassen this summer, has identified the Icelandic international as a target to further improve the squad. However, Peter O'Rourke of ESPN FC reports that a £27-million bid for the attacking midfielder's services has been rejected by Swansea.

Sigurdsson, who signed a fresh four-year deal with the Welsh side last year, is coming off yet another impressive campaign pulling the strings at the Liberty Stadium; his set-piece prowess was key in helping the Swans narrowly avoid the drop, as Sigurdsson scored nine goals and, more importantly, provided 13 assists in 2016-17.

Both Everton and his former club Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for his services, with the former likely planning for the potential sale of Ross Barkley, while the latter needs to bolster its squad depth ahead of another season where Spurs will be competing in multiple competitions.

For his part, Sigurdsson said last month that he is happy in Wales, and isn't paying attention to the speculation over his future.

"I signed a new contract in the summer and I've got three years left," Sigurdsson told reporters. "So it's down to the club if they want to sell me. But I was very happy when I was on loan here and then again in the last three years.

"I'm not trying to leave, I'm not desperate to go or anything. It (speculation) doesn't bother me what people are talking about."
