Phil Jackson wasn't willing to give up his young star for nothing.

With a number of teams pursuing Kristaps Porzingis prior to Thursday's draft, the New York Knicks president attempted to dump Joakim Noah's massive contract during trade discussions for the Latvian big man, sources told ESPN's Ian Begley and Ramona Shelburne.

The news shouldn't come as a shock, as reports surfaced prior to the draft that Jackson's price was too high for the 21-year-old phenom.

Noah struggled mightily during his first season in The Big Apple, averaging just five points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 46 contests. The 32-year-old also suffered a torn rotator cuff and was suspended 20 games after testing positive for a banned substance.
