Clippers' Lawrence Frank denies DeAndre was shopped

USA Today Sports

The Los Angeles Clippers have done the whole will-they-won't-they thing with DeAndre Jordan before, and they aren't interested in going through that song and dance again.

Contrary to reports from the lead-up to Thursday's NBA draft, Clippers executive VP of basketball operations Lawrence Frank vehemently denied that the team ever put the All-NBA center on the trade block.

"DeAndre was never, ever dangled out there," Frank said after the draft, according to ESPN.

One report suggested the Clippers had explored potential trades for Jordan, while another specifically pointed to the Detroit Pistons as a team they'd spoken to, with the possible intention of acquiring Jordan facsimile Andre Drummond.

Frank isn't sure where those reports came from, saying only that it's impossible to stop the rumor mill from churning this time of year.

"DeAndre's a cornerstone to what we do, and it's funny, if you track every rumor, literally every single player outside of maybe the guys on Golden State and LeBron (James) were mentioned," Frank said. "So, you know, in the front office what we've learned quickly is you can't dispel everything.

"We love DJ. DJ's gonna be here for a long, long time as far as we're concerned."
