Jarrod Dyson cares not for baseball's unwritten rules.
With Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander working on a perfect game in the bottom of the sixth Wednesday at Safeco Field, Dyson dropped down a flawless drag bunt in a 1-1 count, flummoxing the defense and cruising into first for a single that spoiled the former Cy Young award winner's bid at history.
As such, thanks to Dyson's ostensible violation of baseball's inscrutable "code," the Tigers' 117-year stretch of never having a pitcher throw a perfect game will continue for at least one more day.
