McCollum: 'Garbage' to think Warriors are bad for NBA

The Golden State Warriors nearly swept their way to an NBA championship, but C.J. McCollum still doesn't think their dominance is necessarily a bad thing for the league.

McCollum - whose Portland Trail Blazers lost handily to the Warriors in the first round - believes Golden State deserves credit for its success after developing the majority of the team's core internally.

"I think that's garbage, man," McCollum said on the HoopsHype Podcast with Alex Kennedy. "They've done things the right way. It's not like they cheated. They drafted well, they developed players within. And then they bring in an outsider in KD (Kevin Durant), who was a free agent and every right to sign with the team he wanted."

With four All-Stars on their roster, the Warriors ran into little trouble during this year's postseason, posting a net rating of plus-13.6 through 17 playoff contests.

"If anything, other teams need to get better," McCollum said. "Other teams need to figure out ways to execute trades, to execute in the draft, develop players internally, and try to put something together."

NBA commissioner Adam Silver echoed a similar sentiment last week, saying the league needs to figure out a way to become more competitive, instead of looking at ways of breaking up the Warriors' core.
