LeBron James doesn't want David Griffin to walk away from his position with the Cleveland Cavaliers feeling as though he wasn't appreciated for his years of service.

With the news breaking Monday that Griffin will no longer be the team's general manager moving forward, James took to Twitter to give thanks to his now former GM for what he did for him, the fans, and the franchise as a whole.

James was reportedly "disappointed" after learning of Griffin's departure, and was supposedly not consulted over the decision to not give him a contract extension.

It appears that former All-Star point guard Chauncey Billups is the frontrunner to be named the Cavs' new president of basketball operations, a role that would involve him hiring Griffin's replacement.

James has a player option for the 2018-19 campaign, and should he turn that down, he'll be able to leave the Cavaliers for a second time as an unrestricted free agent a year from now.
