Cyle Larin apologizes for DUI arrest

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Orlando City forward Cyle Larin issued an apology Friday and expressed regret after his arrest for driving under the influence in Florida.

The Canadian forward was pulled over early Thursday morning when Florida Highway Patrol spotted him driving on the wrong side of the road.

Larin subsequently failed a roadside sobriety test when he blew .179, more than double the legal limit.

"I want to apologize to my family, fans, teammates, Orlando City, and Canada Soccer for putting myself in this position," Larin wrote on Twitter. "I’m sorry for the disappointment this has caused everyone. I always wish to live up to the high standards set by my club, Canada, and my family.

"I will do everything possible to never place myself in this position again and regain everyone’s trust."

Major League Soccer issued a statement late Thursday stating that Larin is ineligible to compete in any competition or team activity until he completes an assessment conducted by the league's Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program doctors.
