One day after Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the organization was going to be "extra cautious" about pitcher Julio Urias' injured left shoulder, a reason as to why appears to have surfaced.

There is a "heightened level of concern" about the severity of Urias' shoulder injury, according to Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times, who reports the 20-year-old will be examined this weekend in L.A.

Urias underwent an MRI on June 15 that came back negative for any sort of structural damage - although it did reveal inflammation - and he visited with Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Monday, according to Joshua Thornton of MLB.com.

The Dodgers reportedly said they were still gathering information about the health of Urias on Wednesday, but this weekend's examination should provide more clarity.

He was placed on the seven-day minor-league disabled list last week after experiencing soreness in his throwing shoulder.

Before Urias' demotion to the minor leagues in the middle of May, the former top prospect posted a 0-2 record with a 5.40 ERA, striking out 11 in 23 1/3 innings.

The youngster impressed in his debut season last year, appearing in 18 games - including 15 starts - and posting a 3.74 ERA and 1.46 WHIP.
