Lewis' deal, reported to be for $6.725 million, is now the highest ever given to a player drafted out of high school, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
The Twins entered the draft with an MLB-leading $14.1 million of bonus-pool money to spend on their draft picks. Lewis' deal is roughly $1 million less than the draft-slot price for the No. 1 pick, which was valued at $7.7 million.
The Atlanta Braves signed right-hander and fifth overall pick Kyle Wright to a record-setting $7-million deal recently, which broke the record previously held by Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant, who signed a $6.7-million bonus deal in 2013.
