Orioles' Davis could be out until All-Star break with oblique injury
The Baltimore Orioles have lost eight of their last nine games and will likely be without Chris Davis until after the All-Star break.
Davis was placed on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday with a Grade 1 oblique strain, and manager Buck Showalter said Saturday it "would be real ambitious" to think Davis would be back in three weeks, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN.
The 31-year-old acknowledged he doesn't know how long he will be out and said that he's still in pain after leaving Monday's game, according to Rich Dubroff of PressBoxOnline.com.
"I'll be sitting on the bench not really able to do anything except cheer and encourage guys," Davis told Kubatko. "It's a pretty awful feeling."
Davis is hitting .226/.320/.461 with 14 home runs, seven doubles, and an MLB-leading 95 strikeouts in 61 games.
The All-Star break runs from July 10-13.
