Former Big East rivals Villanova and UConn are set to renew hostilities over the next three years, as the schools announced an upcoming three-game series Thursday.

UConn will host the first matchup this season, while Villanova will host the third meeting during the 2019-20 campaign. The programs will square off at Madison Square Garden in New York City in the second game.

"We have had so many memorable games against Villanova over the years and Coach (Jay) Wright obviously has one of the very best programs in the country," Huskies coach Kevin Ollie said in a statement. "I know our fans will be thrilled to see the Wildcats back on our schedule."

Despite UConn's recent struggles, the Huskies and Wildcats have combined to win two of the last four NCAA championships.

Villanova holds a 33-31 all-time edge against UConn. The teams last played in the second round of the 2014 NCAA tournament, where UConn claimed victory and went on to win the national title.
