Oklahoma's Riley adds Ruffin McNeill to coaching staff

Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley has added to his coaching staff with the hiring of Ruffin McNeill, who will serve as a defensive tackles coach, the team announced Wednesday.

McNeill spent last season as the defensive line coach at Virginia and was previously the head coach at East Carolina from 2010-15.

He worked with Riley at East Carolina, where the current Sooners coach was the offensive coordinator for five seasons.

"I'm very excited that Ruffin McNeill is joining our coaching staff," Riley said "Personally, I have a great history with him from our time together at Texas Tech and East Carolina. We're getting an extremely high-quality person and coach. Our team and fans will love the personality and energy he'll bring to our program."

Riley has been busy making moves only a week into the job, as the 33-year-old also recently flipped four-star defensive end Ron Tatum from Texas to Oklahoma.
