Texans DL coach believes Clowney can be a Hall of Famer

The Houston Texans had high hopes for Jadeveon Clowney when they drafted him first overall in 2014. Three seasons later, the expectations haven't dipped.

After logging 14 games in one season for the first time in his career last campaign and earning All-Pro honors, Texans defensive line coach Anthony Weaver believes Clowney could be remembered as one of the all-time greats.

"I told him he can be a Hall of Famer," Weaver told the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson. "Now, there's a number of things that have to happen. You've got to stay healthy, you have to be consistent and persistent.

"But he has all the qualities and athletic attributes in order to do that."

Clowney's career thus far has been marred by injuries that caused him to miss 12 games as a rookie and be limited in nine starts as a sophomore. In 2016, Clowney had 53 tackles, six sacks, and 16 tackles for a loss through 14 games.
