Alvaro Morata looks set to become Manchester United's first signing after agreeing to join the Premier League side from Real Madrid.

It's believed Morata is eager to join United and the transfer will be completed once the two teams come to an agreement on a transfer fee for the Spanish forward, according to Matt Law of The Telegraph.

A report earlier in the week that United submitted an improved £60-million bid after initially failing to convince Real accept an offer worth £52 million.

Interest in Morata seemingly picked up in the weeks after Zlatan Ibrahimovic's serious injury, with reports indicating United will not trigger the 12-month option in the Swedish forward's contract as he's not expected to return to action until, possibly, January.

Law adds Morata revealed the move to friends, saying he expects to call Old Trafford home next season and is excited about the prospect of working with manager Jose Mourinho.

First-team football is another deciding factor for the Spanish international after struggling to break into the starting squad at Real Madrid despite being assured of opportunities upon his return from a loan spell at Juventus.

Despite his limited opportunities as a starter, Morata was potent in front of goal last season, scoring 15 times in 26 appearances to bring his total to 20 in all competitions.
