Police submit Michael Irvin sexual assault case to state attorney

Fort Lauderdale Police announced Thursday that they closed their sexual assault investigation into NFL Network's Michael Irvin. The case will now be reviewed by State Attorney Michael J. Satz, who will be tasked with deciding if there's enough evidence to charge Irvin.

It was reported on March 29 that a 27-year-old woman filed a police report, alleging that she had been assaulted by Irvin inside a Fort Lauderdale hotel.

Irvin vehemently denied the allegations, telling reporters that he never had "any kind of sexual relations in any way" with the woman. The 51-year-old has not been charged.

TMZ obtained an exclusive interview with Irvin on May 28, where he said his legal team informed him that the rape kit sampled in the investigation came back negative. Officials refused to provide further comment to TMZ.

Irvin is best known for his Hall of Fame career with the Dallas Cowboys.
