Report: Ravens among teams Jets contacted about possible Decker trade

USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets are doing what they can to tap into a market for Eric Decker's services before cutting ties.

Set to part ways with the veteran receiver one way or another, the Jets have begun reaching out to teams about the possibility of a trade, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

Among the list of teams are the Baltimore Ravens, La Canfora adds.

The Jets, as ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported Tuesday, will release Decker this week if they are unable to find a trade partner.

Getting some sort of draft compensation in return for a well-established and still productive receiver is, of course, the ideal scenario for a Jets team now in full-fledged rebuild mode.

A team willing to take on the remainder of the five-year, $36.25-million deal Decker signed with New York back in 2014 could presumably avoid the uncertainty of a free-agent pursuit by offering up as little as a late-round pick.

Decker, 30, is coming off a season in which injuries limited him to just three games.

Provided that he's back at 100 percent after offseason hip and shoulder injuries, he'll look to recapture the form that saw him rack up 80 receptions for 1,027 yards and 12 touchdowns the year prior.
