It doesn't look like Chris Mack is headed to Ohio State

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Breath easy, Xavier fans, it doesn't look like Ohio State is taking another one of your coaches.

It was 13 years ago when the Buckeyes selected then-Musketeers coach Thad Matta to be the new frontman of the program, but it doesn't look like Chris Mack will be making the same move.

Mack was immediately rumored to be on Ohio State's shortlist of candidates to replace Matta after he was dismissed earlier in the week. Mack recently put his house up for sale, which added a bit of fuel to the rumors, so he jumped on Twitter to calm the Musketeers fan base.

The Xavier campus in Cincinnati is just across the Ohio river from Northern Kentucky, and while it looks like Mack is moving homes, it doesn't appear as though he's changing jobs.

In eight seasons with the Musketeers, the 47-year-old has been a smashing success, posting a 187-91 record, including four trips to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament.
