Report: Suns, Nuggets discussing Bledsoe-Mudiay trade

The Denver Nuggets might have finally found a solution to their hole at the point.

The Nuggets are discussing a trade with the Phoenix Suns that would bring Eric Bledsoe to Denver in exchange for Emmanuel Mudiay and the No. 13 pick in Thursday's draft, Chris Haynes of ESPN reports.

The trade talks are fluid and will likely depend on how the draft shakes out. Nevertheless, Bledsoe might have hinted at being moved with a cryptic tweet shortly after Haynes' report came to light.

Bledsoe would address a long-standing weakness at the point for the Nuggets - if he could stay healthy. The 27-year-old is a tough two-way guard who averaged 21.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 6.3 assists this past season. He's also locked into a below-market contract that will see him earn $29.5 million over the next two years, but played just 97 games combined over the past two seasons due to knee issues.

The gambit for the Suns would be to return future assets for Bledsoe, who's a half-decade older than their current core of young prospects. Mudiay, the No. 7 selection in the 2015 draft, is closer in age to the likes of Devin Booker and Marquese Chriss.

Mudiay, however, struggled in his first two NBA campaigns. He averaged 11 points and 3.9 assists last season while shooting a paltry 37.7 percent from the field. His 6-foot-7 frame and his dribbling ability still makes him an intriguing asset, but his sloppiness and inability to shoot are legitimate concerns.
