Watch: Pierce believes Durant 'may be the best player in the world today'
Paul Pierce is living in the moment, and sipping on some Truth juice while he's at it.
After yet another phenomenal performance in the NBA Finals, Pierce is going all-in on Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant, saying after Game 2 Sunday night that the four-time scoring champion may have surpassed LeBron James as the NBA's best.
"He may be the best player in the world today," Pierce said during ESPN's postgame show. "We're on the final stage. LeBron is giving you good numbers, but what can't he (Durant) do on the court?"
Durant was Mr. Everything at Oracle Arena in Golden State's 132-113 blowout victory, scoring 33 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, dishing out six assists, stealing the ball three times, blocking five shots, and connecting on four 3-pointers in 40 minutes of action.
Pierce's fellow analyst Chauncey Billups agreed that Durant brought it against the Cleveland Cavaliers, although he wouldn't go as far as saying he's now better than King James.
