Report: Ravens fear Pitta fractured, dislocated hip; could be career-ending

The Baltimore Ravens fear tight end Dennis Pitta fractured and dislocated his hip during a practice session Friday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

It would mark the third hip fracture Pitta has suffered in four years, and could be a career-ending injury.

The 31-year-old has been playing high-risk football over the past few seasons, knowing that another hip injury could likely derail his career completely. Doctors advised Pitta not to resume playing football in November 2015, but he was a key contributor for the Ravens in 2016, catching 86 passes for 729 yards and two touchdowns.

Baltimore is now facing a dire scenario at tight end with Pitta's harrowing injury. Benjamin Watson is recovering from a torn Achilles, Maxx Williams is coming off knee surgery, while Crockett Gillmore is a stop-gap starter at best.
