Big 12 revenue up 15 percent; schools to receive $34.8M each

The Big 12 is doing just fine.

During spring meetings Friday, commissioner Bob Bowlsby announced revenue increased approximately 15 percent from the year before, with each team set to receive $34.8 million.

The conference was in the news for much of 2016 regarding expansion and the lack of a championship game, which some believed the Big 12 needed to catch up to its Power 5 counterparts.

Ultimately, expansion was passed on and the title game brought back, and with the latest news, schools in the conference are excited for the future.

"There's a tremendous optimism expressed by virtually everyone who spoke or shared thoughts in the room about the strength of this conference, about where we're headed," Oklahoma president David Boren told Chuck Carlton of the Dallas Morning News.

The Big 12 title game set to return later this year should help those numbers grow even more.
