After spending the past two seasons donning the green and white for the Boston Celtics, forward Amir Johnson could be on the verge of making his way back north of the border to re-join the organization where he found his most success.

The 30-year-old veteran is set to hit unrestricted free agency July 1, and there's reportedly mutual interest between he and the Toronto Raptors for a potential reunion, according to Sporting News' Sean Deveney.

The Raptors' priority, however, will be geared toward re-signing All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka, who was acquired from the Orlando Magic ahead of February's trade deadline. Both P.J. Tucker and Patrick Patterson will also be unrestricted.

It was during the summer of '09 when Toronto landed Johnson in a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks after he began his career in the Motor City with the Detroit Pistons. He would spend six seasons with the Raptors, starting 284 of his 451 appearances while averaging 8.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 25.2 minutes.

When he left the city to sign a two-year, $24-million contract with the Celtics in 2015, Johnson - who was heavily involved in the local community, which included his annual "I Roll With Amir" event - tweeted out a heartfelt message to his supporters:

During the 2016-17 campaign for the first-place Celtics, Johnson put up 6.5 points and 4.6 rebounds primarily as a starter, though his role dipped significantly in the playoffs as his playing time was basically cut in half.
