Report: NBA execs don't believe teams will risk signing Bosh

Mark D. Smith / USA TODAY Sports

Chris Bosh is expected to become available as a free agent this summer, but will anyone take a flyer on him?

The 11-time All-Star reportedly agreed to part ways with the Miami Heat after a long saga during which he was diagnosed with blot clots and failed to get medical clearance to play with the condition. He sat out this entire season and altogether has suited up for only 97 games since the beginning of 2014-15.

Throughout the process, the 33-year-old Bosh has stated his intention to play again.

However, David Aldridge of NBA.com recently asked 20 NBA front-office executives if there will be a market for the 6-foot-10 power forward's services, and they didn't express much hope for CB4's future in the league - here's a sampling:

Miami had about $50 million reasons for him to play and could not get a doctor to clear him. Very unlikely the answer will be different at a team with $0 million reasons for him to play.

There will be interest, but the health risks outweigh the upside for most organizations.

There will surely be interest, but it may be hard to find a doctor that will clear him.

There will be (interest) if his medical checks out OK, which seems doubtful at this point.

I don't see how medical people will want to sign off and clear him. Unless something has changed with his health recently … I don't know of a team that would want to take that type of a risk. If something were to tragically happen, it's hard to recover form that. Very unfortunate.

Bosh averaged 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, two assists, and a block over 13 seasons split between the Toronto Raptors and Heat, with whom he won championships in 2012 and 2013 as the third option.

He's proven he's a great player, but his health concerns may prove to be too great of a gamble.
