It feels like the Cleveland Cavaliers have locked up a second straight NBA championship before Game 1 even gets underway - that is, if the curse of one Stephen A. Smith is real.
ESPN's "First Take" host laid out his 2016-17 Finals prediction Monday morning, picking the Golden State Warriors to win the rubber match against Cleveland by going the distance with a victory in Game 7.
If history is any indication, the Warriors will fail; Smith's last six Finals picks, dating back to 2011, have all been wrong, including his selection of Golden State last year.
Year | Smith's pick | Result |
---|---|---|
2011 | Heat | Mavericks |
2012 | Thunder | Heat |
2013 | Spurs | Heat |
2014 | Heat | Spurs |
2015 | Cavaliers | Warriors |
2016 | Warriors | Cavaliers |
