Fernando Alonso will not win the Indy 500 title after all.
The widely recognized two-time Formula One champion saw his race end prematurely with only 21 laps to go after his engine blew. Alonso was consistently in and out of the top 3 throughout the day and raced admirably.
It was the third Honda engine to blow during the day after Ryan Hunter-Reay and Charlie Kimball.
Crowd gives Alonso a standing ovation. He put on a hell of a show. Absolutely stinks it ends this way. For him and RHR and Kimball.

Alonso made headlines after opting against participating in the Monaco Grand Prix and, instead, decided to make his Indy 500 debut on Sunday.
