Vick clarifies he hasn't talked to Falcons about 1-day retirement contract

After initially revealing Saturday that he intended to sign a one-day contract and retire with the organization, Michael Vick clarified Sunday that such an arrangement is merely just a hope of his.

Vick wants to retire as a member of the Falcons, the team that drafted him No. 1 overall back in 2001, but there have been no conversations on that front, he told Vaughn McClure of ESPN.

One of the most exciting players both in franchise and NFL history, the former star quarterback was a logical candidate to rejoin the club before officially calling it a career.

It may only be a matter of time before he does so, as the move would likely be well-received by the Falcons' fan base, but it's now unclear exactly how much interest the organization has in honoring Vick.

The Virginia Tech product started 67 games across his six seasons in Atlanta, tallying 11,505 yards and 71 touchdowns through the air to go with 3,859 yards and 21 scores on the ground.

His most productive season of that stretch came in 2006, when he posted a still-standing quarterback record of 1,039 rushing yards to go with 2,474 passing yards and 22 total touchdowns.
