Borussia Dortmund will reportedly be without Marco Reus when the 2017-18 season kicks off after the 27-year-old damaged a ligament in his knee during the first half of Saturday's victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Pokal final.

Damage to the cruciate ligament in Reus' knee is expected to sideline him for six months, according to German outlet Bild, as translated by ESPNFC. The reported recovery time would see Reus make his season debut in late November.

As he celebrated his first major title, Reus also speculated that he may have suffered ligament damage.

"Maybe it's a bit of anterior cruciate ligament," he said during a post-match interview. "You'll have to ask the doc. It doesn't matter today."

Despite his unconcerned reaction, confirmation of the injury would be a massive blow for Reus, who didn't make his debut this past season until November after missing five months with an adductor injury. He missed another month later in the term when he tore his thigh muscle.
