The Colorado Rockies' surprisingly great pitching staff added a feather to its cap in Thursday's contest against the Philadelphia Phillies, issuing the first platinum sombrero of the 2017 season to Odubel Herrera.
It's the first time in Phillies history that a No. 3 hitter struck out five times in a game, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
Just eight players last season struck out five or more times in a single game last season, and only only three of them - Michael A. Taylor, Colby Rasmus, and Alex Avila - did so in their only five plate appearances of the game, as Herrera did Thursday.
Rockies starter Tyler Anderson was responsible for three of the strikeouts, while Adam Ottavino and Jake McGee shared the other two.
By the end of the game, Herrera was worth minus-22 percent of the team's win probability.
