Mets' Conforto owns the Padres, according to Wikipedia

Andy Marlin / USA TODAY Sports

After an incredibly hot stretch at the plate against them, it appears New York Mets slugger Michael Conforto has now taken ownership of the San Diego Padres. At least according to the infallible internet resource, Wikipedia.

Conforto has gone from almost not making the Mets' Opening Day roster to being one of the best hitters in the entire major leagues. The 24-year-old has held an especially potent bat against the Padres in the Mets' current series against them, with five hits, two homers, and one walk in nine plate appearances.

Conforto's 1.149 OPS is third in the major leagues, trailing only Mike Trout and the injured Freddie Freeman.

The Mets' leadoff man has been a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing season for the team from Flushing, which is currently floundering below .500 with key players sidelined with injuries.

Of course, the humorless moderators of Wikipedia have since removed Conforto's title from the Padres' page and re-added Ron Fowler, who has the dubious honor of actually being the owner of the last-place Padres.
