Rutgers' leading scorer Corey Sanders withdraws from NBA draft

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

Rutgers isn't going to have to worry about replacing its leading scorer next season, as the team announced Tuesday that Corey Sanders will be returning for his junior season in 2017.

The 6-foot-2 guard originally declared for the draft on March 23 and elected not to sign with an agent, giving him the option to return to school, an option he chose on Tuesday.

Sanders was a bright spot on a Scarlet Knights team that finished dead last in the Big Ten last season, averaging 12.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists over 30.4 minutes.
