Former Oregon RB Thomas Tyner seeking comeback at Oregon State

After two years away from football, Thomas Tyner is looking to return to football in the state of Oregon.

Only this time, it won't be in green and yellow.

The former two-year running back for Oregon who amassed 1,284 yards and 14 touchdowns between 2013-14 was granted his release from the Ducks on Saturday, and will be transferring to Oregon State next year in hopes of resuming his career, according to John Canzano of The Oregonian.

After missing the entire 2015 season, Tyner elected to take a medical retirement with two years of eligibility still on the table. A pair of shoulder injuries were the reason for his departure, the first being a torn labrum suffered in high school, the second occurred on a kickoff against Washington during his sophomore season at Oregon, resulting in a floating bone fragment in the joint.

Tyner wanted to make it clear Saturday however, that he's ready to make his comeback.

"I feel 100 percent," Tyner said. "I've had two years of being free, not doing any sports or anything. I think it's time for me to get back. My football career didn't end the way I wanted it to and I think I owe it to myself and everyone who looked up to me."

Tyner also posted this cryptic tweet Thursday, suggesting that the idea of not knowing what could have been may be his guiding light back to the gridiron.

For those who may be having trouble recalling just how dynamic of a talent Tyner has been, he once rushed for 644 yards and scored 10 touchdowns in a single game as a senior for Aloha High School in Oregon. Yes, you read that right, in one single game.

There are no guarantees in Tyner's journey back, but it goes without saying that despite being away for so long, determination is not something he will be lacking.

"Life starts hitting you once you're about to graduate," Tyner said. "I just wasn't satisfied. I have to do this."
