Drew Brees is happy about the addition of Adrian Peterson and he's optimistic about what the running back's game will mean for Mark Ingram.

Speaking on SiriusXM NFL Radio, the New Orleans Saints quarterback said he believes the pairing of Peterson and Ingram, the incumbent starting back, can work.

"Adrian Peterson will be a great complement to Mark Ingram, who I think is one of the best all-purpose backs in the NFL," Brees said Thursday.

While Brees stopped short of naming Ingram his preferred option, the veteran passer was certainly heaping praise on his longtime teammate.

Brees has played with Ingram for the past six seasons and had a front-row seat for the back's first 1,000-yard season in 2016.

In addition to his on-field talents, Brees said Peterson will be a boon for team morale.

"I love the culture in the locker room, we brought in the right types of guys this offseason," Brees said.

Along with Peterson, the Saints also added receiver Ted Ginn, defensive end Alex Okafor, linebacker Manti Te'o, and safety Rafael Bush this offseason.
