Joe Maddon has joined an esteemed list of managers.

The Chicago Cubs skipper won his 1,000th game Tuesday, with his team defeating the Cincinnati Reds 9-5 at Wrigley Field.

"To the players who have been a part of this, I want to say, 'Thank you.' You don't do it without the players," Maddon said after the win, according to Carrie Muskat of MLB.com.

He also announced that the Respect 90 Foundation, Maddon's charity, would donate 1,000 meals to children and families in the Tampa Bay and Chicago areas.

Maddon joins Bruce Bochy (Giants), Dusty Baker (Nationals), Mike Scioscia (Angels), Buck Showalter (Orioles), Terry Francona (Indians), Clint Hurdle (Pirates), and Ned Yost (Royals) as the eighth active manager to accomplish the milestone.

Entering Tuesday, Maddon owns a career .534 win percentage during his tenure with the California/Anaheim Angels, Tampa Bay Rays, and Cubs. He helped lead Chicago to its first World Series championship in 108 years, defeating the Indians in seven games last season.
