Gortat concedes his time with Wizards may be nearing an end

The Washington Wizards cleaned out their lockers Tuesday, and center Marcin Gortat may have been doing so in D.C. for the final time.

While the 33-year-old still has two years left on his contract, he knows the business realities the Wizards face if they intend to re-sign swingman Otto Porter.

"I had 103 games this year and I haven't missed even one game," Gortat said, according to CSN's J. Michael. "I didn't miss one practice or shootaround. On top of that I'm the oldest guy on the team. I know how the business works. I'm the oldest guy on the team."

A new deal for Porter would push the Wizards closer to the luxury tax, making an aging player like Gortat expendable. The fact that Washington signed center Ian Mahinmi - two years Gortat's junior - last summer could also factor into the equation.

"They signed Ian also. He's younger than me and he got a longer contract," Gortat added. "I just know how the business works so I'm prepared for everything just in case. We're going to talk. I'm going to talk to (GM) Ernie (Grunfeld). I'm going to talk to management and we're going to figure it out."

Injuries limited Mahinmi to 31 games this season, while Gortat didn't miss a single contest. The Poland native averaged 10.8 points and a career-high 10.4 rebounds.
