Lane Kiffin extends offer to QB in 7th-grade...again

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Lane Kiffin once offered a scholarship to a seventh-grade quarterback by the name of David Sills while he was head coach at USC, though his efforts were spurned when Sills ultimately ended up attending West Virginia.

What is that saying about history being doomed to repeat itself, again?

Kiffin, now coaching at Florida Atlantic, was up to his old tricks again Monday, as according to Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports, the 42-year-old has extended an offer to 13-year-old quarterback Kaden Martin out of Adams Middle School in Redondo Beach, Ca.

If you're wondering what could possess Kiffin to reach so far into the future to reel in a potential quarterback prospect, genetics may have something to do with it. Kaden Martin is the son of former Tennessee gunslinger Tee Martin, who led the Volunteers to the BCS National Championship in 1998.

The younger Martin is already 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, according to Feldman, but only time will tell if Kiffin's crystal ball is made of pure genius, or just a whole lot of jaded glass.
