Poulter claps back at claim he 'clearly did not play to win'

Ian Poulter's final-round charge at THE PLAYERS Championship came up a little short as he finished in a tie for second, but the Golf Channel's Brandel Chamblee thinks that showing was the goal all along.

Poulter came to the 18th hole trailing Si Woo Kim by two strokes, needing a birdie to put pressure on the South Korean, who was playing behind him.

The 41-year-old would end up making bogey on the hole and finish in a tie for second - his best finish in the past four years on the PGA Tour.

Chamblee, never shy on opinions during a golf tournament, openly questioned Poulter on the postgame show, claiming he did not play to win the event.

Poulter got word of Chamblee's comments and immediately took to Twitter to clap back at the former tour pro.

Chamblee won just one PGA Tour event in a lengthy career and opted to join Golf Channel after losing his tour card in 2003. He's gained a reputation as one of the most outspoken analysts on television, and for his quick trigger on blocking people on Twitter.

That last bit of information explains why his next move of blocking Poulter on Twitter shouldn't have been a surprise to anybody.
