Kerr attends 1st full practice since going on leave

USA Today Sports

The Golden State Warriors welcomed a familiar face to practice.

Head coach Steve Kerr attended a full home practice Saturday - his first since going on leave about three weeks ago. He's out indefinitely until he finds a remedy for pain related to two back surgeries he had two years ago, and recently underwent a spinal cord leak procedure.

Stephen Curry was not only happy to see Kerr, but he was also impressed with the work his coach has been putting in despite his ailment.

"It's obviously great any time you get to hear his voice, see his face," the All-Star point guard told reporters, as quoted by ESPN's Chris Haynes. "He's obviously been doing his homework in between. His downtime is to help us get prepared for the series and you know he misses being around the day-to-day routine, the atmosphere, practice and locker rooms and games and all that. So, for him to even just have the energy and ability to be here means a lot. Hopefully, he's feeling better."

Assistant coach Mike Brown has been leading the charge in Kerr's stead, helping the Warriors to a 6-0 record since stepping in ahead of Game 3 of the opening round.

The Dubs haven't played since completing a sweep of the Utah Jazz on Monday, and will return to action Sunday in their West finals series opener versus the San Antonio Spurs. They'll continue preparing as if Kerr won't return this postseason.
