East Carolina head coach Scottie Montgomery just one-upped us all ahead of Mother's Day.
The 38-year-old Pirates bench boss traveled to South Greenville Elementary School to surprise the mother of current East Carolina linebacker Kiante Anderson with a full scholarship for her son. Anderson had been a walk-on player for the first three seasons of his career until Thursday.
It appears Tia Chapman, Anderson's mother, wasn't fully aware of the extent of Montgomery's visit until she read the letter, and then the tears of joy began to flow. Chapman was also given the honor of calling her son and breaking the news, to which he sounded extremely grateful.
Well done Mr. Montgomery, well done.
