Syracuse reels in East Carolina transfer Elijah Hughes

Syracuse bolstered the future of its roster Thursday, securing a transfer commitment from former East Carolina freshman Elijah Hughes.
The 6-foot-6 wing, who hails from Beacon, N.Y., averaged 7.8 points in his lone campaign with the Pirates. He'll sit out the 2017-18 season to satisfy NCAA transfer requirements, before picking up three seasons of eligibility with the Orange.
"I sat down and thought about it and just decided that Syracuse was the right spot,'' Hughes told Mike Waters of Syracuse.com of his decision to join the ACC program.
Syracuse is coming off a disappointing 19-15 season that saw Jim Boeheim's program miss the NCAA tournament a year after enjoying a Cinderella run to the Final Four.
